Interlocking Feedback Loops explores interdisciplinary notation systems linking a musical performer, a dancer, and spoken word. A dancer responds to spoken word delivered through headphones; footage of the resulting improvisation is layered with a painted visual notation system and interlaced with the dancer’s body, then reinterpreted by a musician, building a chain of iterated interpretation intended for eventual performance.
The research phase brings together choreographer and dancer Vivian Kim and flautist Shanna Pranaitis, with Elizabeth A. Baker taking on the roles of musical performer, visual artist, composer, videographer, and producer.
The project is conceived as human-led and human-interpretation-centred, developed without the use of generative AI – a methodological commitment to iterative, multilayered art made entirely through human collaboration.
