This audio-visual installation is an extension of an earlier sound installation combined with a new photographic series. Elieh aims to explore the notions of memory and home through both sonic and visual media. The sound installation involves sonic memories of his own, his family members and his friends, and is based on the breaking news jingle from the Lebanese Civil War (1975-1990). In combination with photos from different periods in Beirut, prior to and during the 2019 revolution as well as after the 2020 port explosion, Elieh displays a multitude of perspectives about memory, perception of place and the notion of home.
Born in Beirut in 1979, Tony Elieh is a musician, electro-acoustic composer and self-taught photographer.
