Divarha and duvarlar mean ‘walls’ in Persian and Turkish, respectively. In Divarha/Duvarlar, we engage in artistic research to find out about emotional spaces in relation to Iran and Turkey. What does it mean to live in different cultures? What images and fantasies do we encounter? We design a show in which fictional and real guests are invited to take a seat on the East-East divan. With humor and nostalgia, we try out different spatial arrangements of speaking in private or in public. We also ask how we deal with speaking about ourselves, with our own visibility and its denial.
