As a member of the sick/disabled/mad communities, I am repeatedly confronted with suspicion, scorn and doubt in my everyday life. Society treats those who experience alien interactions in a similar manner. I propose to research UFO sightings and alien visitations, particularly between 1989 and 1994 in Southern England, where a huge rise in reported interactions with nonhuman beings was reported. The rejection of these experiences actively pushes individuals into contact with each other and creates solidarity among them. I am interested in researching the lived experiences of people within the UFO/UAP communities in Southern England in the 1990s, and how these experiences led to the formation of community.
