In his seminal book Colour and Form (1937) British painter Adrian Stokes stated: ‘…when we shut our eyes we see a film of colour that scientists call the Visual Grey.’ Drawing on this concept on the one hand and from Berenice Abbott’s 1927 photo of Jean Cocteau on the other, the project aims to investigate the prospects of combining these two themes in various formats and media. Research topics include the potential of incorporating the concept of Visual Grey and the image of the photograph in movement, dance, close-eyed choreography and imaginary exploration. Kaminski will participate in the International Institute for Dreaming and Imagery’s Artist Lab to advance his research.
