The title of my project refers to the invasive processes of russification in which russian endings were added to existing surnames. The project comprises a series of interviews with artists who grew up in neighbouring national republics such as Bashqortostan and Tatarstan as well as artists who are now living in other cities of the russian federation or abroad. I will show how this experience is reflected in their artistic practices, trace similarities of artistic experiences and increase the visibility of the artists in various artistic contexts. The project also aims to construct a different perspective and address the fate of many nations colonised by the russian imperialistic state.
