Mamosetse (which means ‘mother of the only remaining child’ in Sesotho) is a new magazine emerging as a critical cultural voice within Lesotho’s largely absent arts publishing landscape. Positioned as a thoughtful and accessible platform, Mamosetse foregrounds storytelling, cultural writing, and journalism that invite readers to pause, reflect, and engage critically with their social and cultural environment. Rejecting sensationalist approaches, the magazine aims to cultivate curiosity, dialogue, and sustained attention. While rooted in Lesotho, Mamosetse reaches beyond national borders, contributing to wider conversations on culture, memory, and contemporary African perspectives.
Leteka Phillip Leteka is a writer, photographer, and filmmaker from Lesotho, and the founder and editor-in-chief of Mamosetse. He holds an MFA from the Rochester Institute of Technology and is a Fulbright Scholar.
