Two Notions of Iteration: Field Synthesis and Leftover Pattern (working title) is a research-based artistic project examining the relationship between photographic images, computation, and the formation of thought. The project unfolds through two interconnected forms: a film and multimedia work developed in dialogue with the archive of Harun Farocki, and an experimental artist publication conceived as a collective research manuscript. Drawing on Farocki’s concept of the ‘operational image’ and Vannevar Bush’s early theories of associative knowledge systems, the project investigates how information, cognition, and automation shape social and political realities. The research will culminate in a solo exhibition and public programme in Munich, with a smaller programme in Athens, combining exhibition, publication, workshops, and accessible public formats.
Ilinca Fechete is a Munich-based artist and researcher whose practice explores photography, computation, and critical philosophy through time-based and research-driven artistic forms.
