The film Gündem focuses on Özgür Gündem, a newspaper first published in 1992 by dissident Kurds living in Turkey. The paper has managed to continue to this day, albeit under different names. Its courageous employees were subjected to constant repression because of their focus on human rights violations in the Kurdish provinces. In the film, I will interview people who have been connected with the newspaper to keep its memory and, thereby, the collective memory of the Kurds alive. I will also search for ways to question the mechanisms of oppression that Özgür Gündem faced, and experiment with the possibilities and limits of combining sound and image.
