Queer Unschool South Asia is an experiment in solidarity, alternative pedagogy and queer kinship across militarised borders. Set against rising authoritarianism and violence in South Asia, it envisions queer relations to tackle socio-political challenges unique to the region. Located in Kathmandu, Nepal, a hub for progressive queer movements, Queer Unschool South Asia will gather practitioners from Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bangladesh for a month of critical thinking, collaboration and radical learning. In collaboration with Kaalo.101, eight participants will co-create the pedagogical structure of the school, challenging hierarchical models of learning. The programme includes workshops with feminist, queer and activist leaders. Participants receive resources to continue projects in their communities, with the aim of creating a borderless, unapologetically queer future.
